DTUP|Transformative journey at the Innovative Gerontological Learning Hub

24 Feb 2026

Recently, our ITS2005 Transdisciplinary Inquiries and Methodologies students embarked on a transformative journey at the Innovative Gerontological Learning Hub, where they were immersed in the realities of ageing through the use of virtual reality technology and simulation ageing tools. 👵👴🌟

This impactful hands-on experience allowed students to walk in the shoes of older adults, gaining a deep understanding of the challenges they face and exploring innovative approaches to elevate their quality of care and well-being. 🌿💡 It not only encourages students to ignite their passion but also empowers them to drive positive change through a transdisciplinary approach in supporting and caring for our elders, all with the aim of promoting a healthy and sustainable city. 🌟

DTUP|Discovering Hong Kong’s Ethnic Diversity: A Temple Street Cultural Treasure Hunt

6 Feb 2026

On February 6, students from ITS2029 Global Challenges II explored Hong Kong’s ethnic minority cultures and joined a cultural treasure hunt in Temple Street, led by Dr. Yan Kwan, discovering the unique charm of these communities.🤩 They first took part in a cultural sharing session, where guest speakers introduced their customs, languages and daily life. Students also tasted Indian and Nepalese cuisines and tried on traditional costumes for a hands-on cultural experience.

The class then headed to Temple Street for a group-based “Cultural Treasure Hunt”. 🔍 Cultural ambassadors hosted different checkpoints and guided students through activities such as the Nepalese Tika ceremony—rice paste applied on the forehead as a symbol of blessings and good fortune. Students also visited minority-run shops to learn more about the cultural meanings behind their products.

This experience enriched students’ understanding of Hong Kong’s cultural diversity and reinforced the importance of respect, inclusion and cultural harmony. 🤝✨🌏
