DTUP|Learning and Teaching Expo 2026

26 Jun 2026

We were proud to showcase "None of My Business?"—an innovative transdisciplinary board game created by the Community of Practice (CoP) – TransdiscipiLink at HKBU—at the Teaching and Learning Expo 2026! 🧠✨

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, played, and shared your thoughts with us. By sparking conversations with educators and students, we’ve taken another important step forward in promoting transdisciplinary education beyond HKBU. 🎓🔥

DTUP|HKBU Transdisciplinary Student-as-Partner Study Tour 2026 ✈️🌏

22-28 Jun 2026

On 22-28 June, 21 HKBU Transdisciplinary Students visited Sydney and Canberra to assume their role as Student-as-Partners! 🤝 They collaborated with students from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and Australian National University (ANU) to examine issues related to SDG14 (Life Below Water) 🌊 and SDG11 (Sustainable Cities & Communities) 🏙️.

The students took a problem-oriented approach to sustainability issues through the disciplines of Arts 🎨, Science 🔬, and Technology 💡! From hands-on microscope experience at SEA Museum 🧪 to behind-the-scene in Sydney Zoo 🦘, students also gathered how balance between sustainability and business is achieved at Hutchison Port Sydney ⚓.

The highlights were direct interaction with Indigenous people, understanding Aboriginal culture 🪃 through hiking together at the Black Mountain and how these could be applied in the Hong Kong context. Stay tuned for more stories of “Transdisciplinary Student-as-Partner” and highlights from our journey! 🌟

DTUP|Ocean Sustainability Workshop at the French International School of Hong Kong

4-5 Jun 2026

On 4-5 June, we successfully delivered five sessions of the Ocean Sustainability Workshop at the French International School of Hong Kong (TKO & JL campuses), engaging 130 primary students in exploring SDG 14: Life Below Water! 🌊

Led by Dr. Glos HO (Director and Principal Lecturer, DTUP) and Dr. Patrick YUE (Senior Lecturer, Department of Biology), the sessions brought ocean issues to life. Students dived into the world of microplastics, learning how our daily habits affect marine ecosystems. With the support of Biology students Mark and Tanvir, FIS students got hands-on with microscope observations to examine tiny plastic fragments and identify their everyday sources. 🔬

Another key highlight was Sustainable Bites, an immersive booth designed by our Year 1 transdisciplinary student team. Ryan and Victoria created a vibrant Hong Kong–style wet market where FIS students “shopped” for a family seafood dinner. Using tablets, they scanned their choices to unlock an augmented reality (AR) experience based on the WWF Seafood Guide’s colour‑coded recommendations. 🐟📱This real-life scenario encouraged students to think critically about their consumption habits and become responsible consumers, supporting ocean sustainability.

Together, these activities empowered students to take small but meaningful steps towards protecting our oceans—because every choice counts. 🌱💧
