During the three-day, two-night study trip to Zhuhai (April 25-27), our TD students from Global Challenges II not only experienced the diverse facets of sustainable tourism firsthand, but also engaged in a valuable “One University, Two Campuses” – HKBU x BNBU transdisciplinary collaborative exchange with 71 students from the Zhuhai campus of Beijing Normal University – Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU). 💡
✨Day 1, BNBU students led our students through a campus treasure hunt 🔍, exploring iconic campus landmarks and taking group photos 📸.
✨Day 2, students from both campuses visited major Zhuhai landmarks together, participated in field studies from multiple perspectives to understand sustainable tourism planning and development, and deepened their insights through group meals and discussions .
✨HKBU and BNBU students collaborated to create sustainable travel guidebook, short videos, and webpages promoting Zhuhai, aiming to raise visitors’ awareness of low-carbon travel and contribute to sustainable tourism.

This Earth Day (22 April) 🌍, we joined hands with Dr. Patrick YUE, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Biology at HKBU, to host a talk titled “Ocean Adventures: Saying No to Plastics” for primary school students, highlighting the importance of sustainable tourism and marine conservation. 🌊
Through hands-on activities—including identifying microplastics under microscopes and building Eco-blocks—students explored the sources of marine pollution, learned about marine microhabitats, and reflected on how everyday choices affect our oceans. They also created ‘Plastic-Free Travel Journals’ to encourage low-carbon living and responsible lifestyle habits. ♻️
Let’s all start with small actions: reduce plastic use, practise responsible travel, and protect our oceans for a more sustainable future. 🌱

Both of them engaged the public to understand more about sustainable seafood options through their AR lens.
Don’t forget to give an hour to the Earth and switch off the lights at 8:30pm today!
