Our programme invited Mr Kevin Leung Yik Man, the Managing Director of Yiu Wing Live👨🏻‍💼, Hong Kong’s leading live production company with over 30 years of experience in stage performances.🎤 From producing concerts to artist management and exhibitions, Yiu Wing Live is a cornerstone of the local culture industry🌄 In his insightful talk, Yikman shared the entire flow of organizing a live concert, covering everything from finding artists and managing production lines to ticketing, marketing, and venue management. It was fascinating to see how they navigate the complexities of the entertainment industry! 🔍 In this saturated market, Yiu Wing Live has done something special to attract customers👁️—they held the biggest beach music festival in Hong Kong, featuring a specially designed large-scale sea park equipped with water slides and various water warfare toys, accommodating tens of thousands of music fans. 🤘🏻🏖️ Yikman emphasized that being a Managing Director requires a deep understanding of various aspects💭, including entertainment law, music production, construction, and financing.💲 Coincidentally, the BAGE curriculum covers multiple areas related to these aspects, equipping us with the knowledge needed to enter this industry! 🤩

| 15 Nov 2024 BAGE｜Field Trip to VML Our BAGE Year 3 students had an amazing time visiting VML, where creativity meets technology in the ever-evolving advertising landscape! 🏙️With over 300 years of combined experience, VML is a powerhouse that delivers innovative solutions across the entire customer journey. Throughout the visit, they shared numerous case studies featuring big brands, demonstrating how they craft meaningful experiences that drive growth and build trust with audiences. 📈VML’s approach to integrating Brand Experience, Customer Experience, and Commerce sets them apart in a crowded market. 🌤️ Students learned how VML adapts its advertising strategies to resonate with audiences today. 🤝🏻From traditional TV ads to dynamic YouTube campaigns, and now to engaging social media content that sparks conversations among Gen Z, they truly know how to make noise! 📺➡️💻📱

Previous Next | 11 Nov – 12 Nov 2024 DTUP｜Transdisciplinary Connections in Sustainable Ocean Student Project Showcase 海洋「非」自由約會 135 students from the ITS1005 Global Challenges course hosted an "Unconventional Ocean Date" (海洋「非」自由約會) student project showcase on campus, featuring 22 innovative ideas to promote a sustainable ocean! The event attracted over 800 participants, including 140 secondary school students and children! Projects included a trash-detecting robot, original educational card games, beach cleanup animation games, a virtual ocean world drone, a pop-up book for children, and more. Some of these projects have been selected by WWF-Hong Kong and Ocean Park's Mission R to be displayed in future public events!

Previous Next | 4 Nov 2024 HSWB｜End-of-Life Care Education Workshop On November 4, a dedicated team from The Salvation Army's End-of-Life Care in Residential Care Homes for the Elderly visited the COMP2035 AI and Data Analytics for Health and Social Innovation I class to promote awareness and education on end-of-life care through engaging activities. During the workshop, students participated in interactive booth games that focused on key principles of End-of-Life Care, including end-of-life planning and the importance of support and understanding from relatives. The team also invited two elderly guests, who shared their profound experiences and perspectives on this important topic. While discussions around end-of-life issues can be emotionally challenging, the workshop inspired students to recognize the critical needs of individuals and their families facing such circumstances. We look forward to seeing the students' presentations on how technology can play a supportive role in addressing these needs.

| 21 Oct 2024 DTUP｜Welcome our guests from Tibet! We warmly welcomed 32 guests from Tibet who brought the beauty of their culture to our campus on 21 October. Through traditional folk dances and songs, they shared their rich heritage and vibrant energy with us. Our students also had the opportunity to lead a campus tour, fostering an exchange of ideas and insights about education in Hong Kong. A big thank you to our Tibetan guests and the Hong Kong Playground Association for organising this incredible opportunity for cultural and knowledge exchange! 💃🎶

Previous Next | 15 Oct 2024 DTUP｜Global Challenges - Field trip Earlier this month, our Year 1 Transdisciplinary students joined field trips in their Global Challenges class🌍. 💧Microplastics field work: students collected sand samples, looked through the microscope🔬and recorded the plastic and non-plastic items collected on the field site. 💧Water quality and Onsite Analysis: students collected water samples at the Victoria Habour and checked its temperature, colorimetry and conductivity. 💧Beach Cleanup: students helped to clean up Sheung Sze Wan Beach and collect 8 big bags of waste within one hour. A big thank you to Dr Glos Ho, Dr Patrick Yue and Dr Gray Ho to organise the field trips. Let’s look forward to students’ innovative ideas to be showcased in Nov.

Students turned their learnings in Global Challenges course into exciting interactive games, which highlight how sustainable lifestyles can protect our planet. The event also featured selected sustainable eating posters and green community routes prepared by our students during the course. Hope we can encourage everyone to take a step for a greener future 🌍.

| 6 Sep 2024 BAScT｜Year 3 Student Participated in the KCC New Century Elite Development Program 2024 Kwong Kwok Sing Cox from BAScT in the Individualised Major (Year 3) competed in the KCC New Century Elite Development Program 2024 case competition this summer. He formed a team with students from other universities and made it to the finals in Malaysia. During the competition, Cox collaborated with students from various countries. “It was an unforgettable experience to work with so many intelligent and cooperative young people of diverse backgrounds. I had the chance to closely observe how generative AI tools can be used in different tasks. This experience will help me better develop my future social impact project.”

The Symposium is a transformative programme that unites emerging young leaders, providing them with the skills, confidence and opportunities to unlock their full potential and change the world. In addition to engaging in UN workshops and inspiring talks by real-life change-makers, she engaged in learning and discussions on a diverse range of topics such as leadership, charity, empowering youth, and animal conservation. | 29 May 2024 ARTT｜Field trip to Osage Gallery, Oil Street Art Space, and the Museum of Art 🌟 Students in the Bachelor of Arts and Science (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920) enjoyed special guided tours led by experts, artists, and curators of key exhibitions in the city. These tours expanded their understanding of the application of technology in the creative arts. 🖼️💡

| 27 May 2024 - 1 Jun 2024 DTUP｜Transdisciplinary Citizen Scientist Study Tour to Australia Our 14 transdisciplinary students became citizen scientists in Australia, reuniting with peers from Western Sydney University whom they met during last November. They embarked on the Hawkesbury River, canoeing up South Creek for a floating lecture on environmental issues. Next, they delved into a microplastics workshop to explore platypus habitats. On-site water testing at Yarramundi Reserve and a nature immersion in the Blue Mountains deepened their connection to the environment. Special thanks to Uncle Chris and Uncle David for warmly welcoming us to their land and sharing the rich Aboriginal history and culture. | 14 May 2024 DTUP｜Collaborative Activities with Shanghai University of Sport Exciting collaboration! 🌟 42 Year 2 transdisciplinary students from BAScT and HSWB recently teamed up with fellow students from the Modern Industrial College of Physical Activity and Health Promotion at Shanghai University of Sport to work on project-based solutions tailored to address the common health challenges faced by the youth in Mainland China and Hong Kong. To explore more solutions, our students also visited the Shanghai Youth Health Management Centre. They delved into the innovative model of "Sports + Health Promotion + Insurance" and explored solutions for youth development, psychological issues and overall health. The collaboration provided them with a valuable opportunity to leverage transdisciplinary knowledge in addressing real-world challenges.🏃‍♂💡💪

| 13 May – 17 May 2024 DTUP｜Transdisciplinary Study Tour in Shanghai A group of 46 teachers and students from BAScT and HSWB embarked on an enriching 5-day Shanghai study tour, featuring an immersive experience in the world of rowing, including interacting with ex-national rowing athletes, dialogues with peers from Shanghai University of Sport, delving into transdisciplinary approaches for enhancing adolescent health promotion and company visits to Shanghai Zhuoxin Medical Technology Co., Ltd. (上海卓昕醫療科技有限公司) and China Telecom. With the integrated knowledge of health, sports and technology fields experienced during this tour, the students were inspired to provide feasible and transdisciplinary solutions that promote physical and mental well-being.

| 25 Apr – 30 Apr 2024 ARTT｜ARTT Year 1 students exhibiting at the Transdisciplinary Discovery Commons 📢 Exciting news from our Year 1 students in the Bachelor of Arts and Science (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920)! They have unveiled their first interactive art exhibition at the Transdisciplinary Discovery Commons in HKBU. 🌟 This foundational course allowed students to develop interactive gestural interfaces, node-based programming, and real-time generative graphics while honing their creative ideation skills. 🎨✨

| 20 Apr – 22 Apr 2024 DTUP｜HKBU x UIC Transdisciplinary Study Tour in Zhuhai 一校兩園跨學科協作項目 Echoing the concept of "One University, Two Campuses," 140 Year 1 transdisciplinary students from the HKBU Global Challenges course visited Zhuhai on 20-22 April 2024. They collaborated with 40 students from Beijing Normal University & Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC) to uncover the secrets of sustainable urban development! From Zhuhai's high-tech zone to eco-friendly enterprises, clean energy firms, GAC Tech Museum, Hengqin Town Planning Hall green spaces, and urban parks, these experiences offer our students a fresh learning platform that extends beyond the classroom boundaries into the Greater Bay Area.

| 20 Apr 2024 DTUP｜A healthy living activity in Po Leung Kuk Ho Yuk Ching (1984) College「健康生活在甲子」 HKBU Division of Transdisciplinary Undergraduate Programmes (DTUP) was invited to participate in a healthy living activity「健康生活在甲子」in Po Leung Kuk Ho Yuk Ching (1984) College 🙌🏻. HKBU set up two booths where participants could try out "AI Moodcheck", a project that uses artificial intelligence to understand emotions through facial expression and recommend music that suits the mood of the moment. Another project, "JOI", promotes greening of the environment by developing AI sensors that can detect and analyse the specific growth needs of plants, and identify the user's emotions and provide emotional support at the same time. This activitiy gave HKBU students the opportunity to share their projects with secondary school students and the general public, as well as to share the application of artificial intelligence in health and transdisciplinary possibilities.

| 19 Apr 2024 HSWB｜"AI and Data Analytics for Health and Social Innovation" Exhibition With the theme of "AI and Data Analytics for Health and Social Innovation", the exhibition spotlights the 7 projects by students of COMP2036 that blend technology with care, aiming to improve the quality of life through smart solutions. Focusing on different topics including mental health, exercise and sleep problems, the students, in which most of them are from HSWB, prepared their social innovation projects to bring awareness or help the people in need and share with participants.

| 10 Apr 2024 DTUP｜Field trip to the Yuen Long San Tin Flood Prevention Information Centre and Lai Chi Kok Drainage Tunnel Dr. Kevin LO led our Global Challenges course students on an eye-opening field trip to the Yuen Long San Tin Flood Prevention Information Centre and Lai Chi Kok Drainage Tunnel. 🌍🌱 The innovative Floating Photovoltaic system with 70 photovoltaic panels in the San Tin Polder save land resources, curb algae growth, and reduce carbon emissions. The students understood more on Hong Kong’s history and causes of flooding and flood prevention strategies as well as the sustainable features in the facilities. The students were also captivated by the design and features of the Lai Chi Kok Drainage Tunnel, exploring its inner workings around the Stilling Basin.

| 27 Mar 2024 DTUP｜Field trip to Eco Park Year 1 transdisciplinary students embarked on an enlightening journey to Eco Park in their ITS2009 Global Challenges class. 🏙🌿 During the visit, the students were amazed by "1:1 3D Landfill Model," a standout art installation, which offers a vivid glimpse into the journey of garbage management. 🗑🌍 Witnessing the full cycle of municipal solid waste from generation to disposal, students understood more about the crucial role of recycling in our environment. 🔄 An enriching and rewarding learning experience that broadened their perspectives and fueled their passion for sustainability! 🌟🌱

| 20 Mar 2024 DTUP｜Field trip to Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) Headquarters Embarking on a unique educational adventure, students of ITS2009 Global Challenges explored the sustainable solutions by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department  (EMSD) Headquarters. 🌿🏗 Walking the Educational Path, the students discovered different outdoor energy-saving facilities, such as a grey water recycling system and a vast Building-Integrated Photovoltaic System of over 2,000 panels across 3,000 square meters. 🌞💧  What an enlightening and captivating journey into the world of mechanical and electrical engineering!

| 13 Mar 2024 HSWB｜Field trip to the Aquatic Sports Rehabilitation Center Year 2 students from BSocSci (Hons) / BSci (Hons) in Innovation in Health and Social Well-Being (JS2940) visited the Aquatic Sports Rehabilitation Center in Shenzhen 💪, which was set up by a former swimming team representative, to learn more about the rehabilitation medical technology in the Greater Bay Area. Some of the students had the opportunity to go into the rehabilitation training pool to learn more about how to collect gait data through aquatic cameras and utilize AI for rehabilitation analysis.🌟

| 3 Feb 2024 DTUP｜"Sustainable Food Futures" Workshop Led by Dr. Daisy Tam, our Year 1 transdisciplinary students in ITS1008 Global Challenges had a fantastic opportunity to host a workshop on the theme of "Sustainable Food Futures" for local secondary schools. Our students shared insights on the connections between climate change and food consumption through various engaging game booth activities, such as designing a sustainable food diet plan. The event aimed to inspire secondary school students to embrace a sustainable foodie lifestyle. 🌱🍴

| 2 Feb 2024 BAGE｜Guest Lecture by Ms Zaf Chow Ms Zaf Chow from Artefacts Lab gave a guest lecture about 'Blockchain Applications for Arts and Culture' in the BAGE core course FILM3147 Entertainment 3.0 on 2 Feb 2024. She discussed the latest developments in Blockchain and discussed the resistance that has been encountered in pursuing avid fan groups to get them to join Web 3.0. She also shared her latest projects with Digital Artifacts, helping museums such as M+ and Singapore National Gallery use Web 3.0 to build community among its patrons who have an interest in particular art historical styles. The team also work on using the blockchain to evaluate requests to reprint items in their collection, grant permission and collect royalties.

| 24 Jan 2024 BAScT｜Video Collaboration Project with HWR Berlin Congratulations to our Year 2 BAScT students who completed the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) project with Berlin HWR School of Economics and Law! The students experienced firsthand international and virtual teamwork and developed cultural sensitivity as well as collaboration and communication skills, and thus are prepared to engage in a local, global, international and intercultural setting. The students from Hong Kong and Germany joined forces through virtual teamwork and collaborated on creating videos that explored sensitivity in intercultural settings! 🎥🌍✨

Huge thanks to CPTTM for their warm reception and the incredible opportunity to delve into Macau's sustainable initiatives 🙏🏼✨ During our visit, we had the privilege of meeting two talented Macau designers who shared their remarkable sustainable efforts.🌿The Yumi technology left our students in awe! 🌱💡 We also visited the Macao Museum of Arts and captured a snapshot in front of 大三巴! | 13 Oct 2023 BAGE｜The BMus Stage Show (in collabration with BMus) The collaboration between Business Administration (BAGE) and Music (BMus) students took place during the organization of the BMus Stage Show on 13 October 2023. BAGE students used their marketing and promotion skills to raise awareness and attract a larger audience to the event. For example, the BAGE students suggested the theme of 'Baku' for the collaboration, showcasing cultural diversity and artistic expression. The students also played a crucial role in promoting the event on campus, using strategies like eye-catching posters, a booth with busking performances, and themed souvenirs and prepared creative content ideas shared on GUKLIVE's platform for online promotion so as to reach a wider audience.

| 11 Oct 2023 DTUP｜Visit to CHAT Our students had a field trip to Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile (CHAT) in the Mills about the relationship between Hong Kong’s textile development and the environment. 🌎 During the tour, the students had a chance to learn more about the industrial past of Hong Kong from archival documents, have a look on the old denim items👖in the CHAT collection and have a touch on fabric produced in sustainable way. 🌿🌱

| 19 Sep 2023 DTUP｜WWF Guest lecture A huge thank you to WWF Hong Kong for delivering an amazing talk on sustainable clothing and engaging our students in an interactive game to learn about the trade-offs involved in fabric sustainability. It was eye-opening to understand the environmental impact of different materials. Let’s take this awareness, make conscious choices and contribute to a more sustainable future.

We were truly impressed by their creativity to pave the way for a sustainable future! Let's give them a round of applause!

| Jun – Jul 2023 ARTT｜Transdisciplinary Discovery Commons Enhancement Design Four talented students from the Bachelor of Arts and Science (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920) dedicated two months to the strategic enhancement of the Transdisciplinary Discovery Commons (TDDC). Their contributions included an interactive information kiosk, two immersive discovery installations, and a curated selection of books, resources, and apps aligning with transdisciplinary learning and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The TDDC has since evolved into a cherished haven for students to unwind, relax, and embark on new intellectual explorations.

| 29 Jun 2023 BAScT｜Google Collaboration HKBU collaborates with Google Hong Kong to bring in the Google Career Certificates Programme 2023, a suite of online training programmes for in-demand digital skills, to cultivate the transdisciplinary problem-solving and analytical skills of students of BAScT programme through the support of information technology. With the scholarship offered by Google Hong Kong, Year 2 students of the BAScT programme will enjoy free access to courses of Google Career Certificates Programme 2023 in the new academic year (2023/24) and earn credentials for in-demand skills.

| 16 – 17 Jun 2023  ARTT｜Shenzhen Field Trip Generously sponsored by the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, students from the Bachelor of Arts and Science (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920) embarked on a captivating Shenzhen field trip. Students revisited many of the artworks they learn in class in "Topologies of the Real," a prominent international media art history exhibition organised by CAFA and ZKM Germany. They also encountered masterpieces by iconic artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and Henri Matisse at the Sky Museum. The journey continued with an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour at the Team Lab Future Park and an enriching exclusive visit to artist studios and workshops at the New-Who Art Village, providing an up-close encounter with the diversity of cultural offerings from the neighouring city.

| 26 Apr – 5 May 2023 ARTT｜Color Exhibition: From Inner Self to Outer Worlds Year 1 students of the Bachelor of Arts and Science (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920) unveiled their first interactive art exhibition. Leveraging the power of the Leap Motion gesture sensor and the node-based programming package Touchdesigner, students translated their creative visions into a mesmerising fusion of technology and artistic expression.

| 14 Apr 2023 BAScT｜Visit to Google HK The Bachelor of Arts, Science and Technology (Hons) (JS2950) students visited Google Hong Kong. The visit provided an opportunity for students to learn about Google's workplace culture and innovative projects being developed in Google Office.

| 3 Apr 2023 DTUP｜Community for Urban Sustainability Dr. Ricky Spencer (Associate Professor, Western Sydney University) outlined the challenges associated with sustainability in urban environments and how urban areas could contribute significantly to addressing biodiversity issues, while Mr. Chong Chan Yau (CEO and founder of CarbonCare InnoLab) discussed how CarbonCare promotes climate change and carbon neutrality.

| 27 Mar 2023 DTUP｜Government Policy for Sustainability Mr. Alfred Sit (former Secretary for Innovation and Technology) discussed Hong Kong's environmental protection policy framework while Dr. Daphne Mah (Associate Professor, Dept of Geography) discussed how innovative technology can be used to monitor and reduce energy consumption in communities.

| 20 Mar 2023 DTUP｜When Geography meets Business Dr. Meiyu Guo (Assistant Professor, Dept of Geography) shared her research on how much water is needed to extract shale gas in China and how to monitor methane emissions, whereas Dr. Clara Kan (Senior Lecturer, School of Business) stressed how sustainability has become mainstream in business by introducing the concepts of ESG, CSV, and CSR.

| 14 Mar 2023 DTUP｜Field Visit: Nan Lian Garden Nan Lian Garden is a Chinese-Buddhist Garden jointly developed and run by the Chi Lin Nunnery and the Hong Kong Government. During the field trip, the students learned how urban parks contribute to city sustainability.

| 10 Mar 2023 BAScT｜Visit to Tsz Shan Monastery The Bachelor of Arts, Science and Technology (Hons) (JS2950) students visited Tsz Shan Monastery. Besides visiting the Buddhism Cultural Museum, the students also learned about community engagement and NGO operation.

| 7 Mar 2023 DTUP｜Field Visit: Electrical and Mechanical Services Department Headquarters In Semester 2, AY2022-23, the second part of ITS2009 Global Challenges II focused on SDG Goal #: Sustainable Cities and Communities. Students learnt about green buildings, sustainable lifestyles, and the role of the EMSD in promoting sustainable cities in Hong Kong.

Mr Tony Chu, Senior Vice-President of Media Asia Music Limited, who has worked in the music industry for over thirty years, shared with the students of BA (Hons) in Business Administration (Global Entertainment (JS2930) on the development of local music industry and how record companies have adapted to dramatic changes in recent years.

| 17 Feb 2023 HSWB｜Field Visit to IT Innovation Lab at Hospital Authority Students of BSocSci (Hons) / BSci (Hons) in Innovation in Health and Social Well-Being (JS2940) visited the Hong Kong Hospital Authority's IT Innovation Lab. Professionals from the lab demonstrated how technology can improve healthcare efficiency and effectiveness. It has been a truly valuable learning experience for students to study healthcare technologies.

The festival offered a wide variety of media arts and performing arts programmes for BASc (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920) students, allowing them to gain new perspectives on technology, art, and everyday life.

| 6 Feb 2023 HSWB｜External Advisory Sharing Session Five external advisors from different sectors shared their career prospects and experiences with students in BSocSci (Hons) / BSci (Hons) in Innovation in Health and Social Well-Being (JS2940). The sharing was rewarding and useful to students in planning their future careers.

| 31 Jan 2023 DTUP｜Field Visit: LU Jockey Club Gerontech Lab The LU Jockey Club Gerontech Lab field visit allows students to meet with volunteers who provide services to the elderly and learn about the impact of Covid-19 on elderly and Gerontechnology products related to healthcare, dining, living, and transportation.

Dr. Chow Yat, Psychiatrist and the Executive Medical Director at Quality HealthCare Medical Services Ltd, explained how innovation in data, technology, and healthcare delivery models helped achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The BASc (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920) students explored a variety of new media artworks demonstrating the integration of art and technology.

| 4 Nov 2022 ARTT｜En Voyage with Claude Monet “En Voyage with Claude Monet” is the first immersive Claude Monet experience in Hong Kong. The BASc (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920) students were not only treated to a 360 degree audio and visual show featuring 200 Monet paintings, but also had the opportunity to explore the Giverny house in thrilling Virtual Reality (VR) tour.

BASc (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920) students were inspired by this unique experience that showcased cutting-edge technologies and digital fine arts and NFTs.

| 28 Oct 2022 ARTT｜East Kowloon Cultural Centre Arts and Technology Workshop at Sha Tin Town Hall Students of Bachelor of ASc (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920) participated in the East Kowloon Cultural Centre Arts and Technology Workshop at Sha Tin Town Hall. The audience enjoyed the collaborative performance by Music Artist Olivier Cong, Visual Artist Kachi Chan and Percussionist Karen Yu. The students engaged in an interactive discussion with the artists, gaining valuable information and inspiration from the experience.

| 28 Oct 2022 ARTT｜“The Road to the Baroque – Masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum” at Hong Kong Museum of Art (HKMoA) Students of BASc (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920) visited the exhibition, “The Road to the Baroque – Masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum”, featuring around 40 Neapolitan paintings from the Capodimonte Museum. To complement the exhibition with multimedia elements and Hong Kong perspectives, HKMoA invited local artists from various disciplines to present their artworks alongside, including a visual installation by Mr Kingsley NG, Visual Artist and Programme Director of BASc (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920).
