ARTT|Arts Tech Work Experience in East Kowloon Cultural Centre
In Semester 1, our BAScARTT students undertook an inspiring internship at the East Kowloon Cultural Centre. ✨🎉
Arts and Tech students played an active role in organising innovative, tech-infused events and supporting cultural programming. Supervisors highlighted the student’s enthusiasm, adaptability, and creative initiative, which brought fresh perspectives to ongoing projects. 🎶🎨🎭📸📲
Through this hands-on experience, the student gained valuable industry insights and enhanced both technical and collaborative skills. Their journey demonstrates how our BAScARTT Programme empowers students to bridge classroom learning with professional practice, opening doors to exciting opportunities in the arts and technology sector. ARTT|Transdisciplinary Collaboration I (Meaningful Play)
In collaboration with Caritas Hong Kong, the BASc (Hons) Arts and Technology Programme co-created a “Meaningful Play” pop-up event for 60 primary school children.💖✨😊
Our Year 3 students designed exciting and interactive play areas using technologies such as augmented reality (AR), extended reality (XR), sensor systems, and projection mapping. These creative activities helped children boost their imagination, intelligence, and digital skills in a friendly, hands-on setting.✨🎵📚🎧🎬🎨🎮
The event also gave our students valuable real-world experience, allowing them to work as a team, improve their technical abilities, and shine as creative leaders for younger children. Arts and Tech students learned the importance of using technology to make a positive impact, help children learn and grow, and also benefit our community in a meaningful way. ✨🎉🌍

ARTT|Course-based Exhibition (Threads)
This year, students and teachers from the VART3405 Studio: Experience Design course created ‘Threads’, an exhibition that invited people to slow down and explore their feelings. The showcase featured eight interactive artworks, guiding visitors through stories about accepting themselves and finding new hope. ✨🎭
‘Threads’ was inspired by a workshop from Breakthrough about mental health. It encouraged students to think differently when facing challenges and building resilience. 💪🎉😊
Thank you to everyone who came and supported this special exhibition! Through ‘Threads’, students not only enhanced their design skills but also partnered with the community to address important issues such as mental health and emotional well-being. With this creative project, students demonstrate how art, technology, and design can inspire, connect, and make a real impact. 🎨💖

ARTT|Year 1 Academic Advising and Welcoming Event
The Year 1 Academic Advising and Welcoming Event was a wonderful way to begin the university journey at HKBU! The evening started with warm speeches from Prof. Johnny Poon, Dean of the School of Creative Arts; Prof. Andreas Kratky, Director of the Academy of Visual Arts; and Prof. Kingsley Ng, Programme Director of BASc (Hons) in Arts and Technology. ✨🎉
Our senior students impressed everyone with their creative artworks presentation and shared their stories about university life, offering valuable insights to all newcomers. And the mingle session was filled with laughter and friendly conversations, allowing first-year students to connect with peers and academic advisors in a welcoming atmosphere. 🎶🎥🎨📸📲
The event boosted everyone’s confidence and excitement. We look forward to seeing our Arts and Technology community thrive and showcase fresh creativity this year!🥂🎊

ARTT | An Incredible Learning Experience in Japan! 🎉🌸
Year 2 and Year 3 BASc in Arts and Technology students participated in an enriching international trip to Nagoya and Osaka, Japan.
Highlights included a collaborative pop-up exhibition with students from Nagoya Zokei University, where participants co-developed the exhibition theme and curatorial direction, and showcased individual or group artworks. 📚✨
Additionally, students visited the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, a prestigious global event held every five years, known for introducing iconic landmarks and attracting millions of visitors. The 2025 Expo, themed "Designing Future Society for Our Lives," focuses on sustainable development and innovative solutions for the future. 🎧🎵🎬
This unique experience provided students with valuable opportunities for cross-cultural collaboration, creative exchange, and exposure to global ideas shaping the future of art and technology. ❤️🌏

ARTT|Transdisciplinary Collobration Showcase II (Envisage)
Earlier this year, our ARTT students visited Bangkok to team with 20 Thai students organised by the School of Changemakers and the Bangkok Art Biennale, focusing on SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). Today, the students collaborated on an exhibition using art as an effective tool for driving social change. We are so proud of them!! ✨

ARTT|Year 1 Student Study Tour to Shanghai
During 17 to 21 April 2025, Prof. Kingsley Ng and Prof. Peter Nelson brought 28 Year1 ARTT students on a 5-day study tour in Shanghai with the support of the Tin Ka Ping Character and Ethics Development Scheme. The trip provided deep practical insights into the integration of technology and the cultural sector.
In addition to examining the curatorial tactics of the Ancient Egyptian Civilization Exhibition at the Shanghai Museum, students also looked at how immersive projection mapping and augmented reality (AR) interfaces are used to bring historical narratives to life for audiences. Students also learned how digital archives and interactive displays are used to preserve and present academic legacies in the Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin exhibition.
These experiences equipped students with a transdisciplinary knowledge of the operational and technological innovations driving the future of the arts and heritage industries.

ARTT |BAGE|🌏✨ Exploring Creativity and Sustainability in Bangkok ✨🌏
23 ARTT students, 3 BAGE students, and 10 students from Bangkok came together for an inspiring journey of collaboration and learning! 🎨📚
In partnership with School of Changemakers Bangkok, the trip featured enriching visits and workshops, including the Bangkok Biennale, key industry partners at the Bangkok Creative District, and a keynote by Mr. Pornphrom Vikitsreth, Advisor to the Governor of Bangkok and Chief Sustainability Officer of the city.
Students developed draft proposals for a transdisciplinary project addressing environmental themes aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 🌿💡. The proposals will be further developed in the ARTT3006 Transdisciplinary Collaboration II course.

The TDDC has since evolved into a cherished haven for students to unwind, relax, and embark on new intellectual explorations.

ARTT|Shenzhen Field Trip
Generously sponsored by the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, students from the Bachelor of Arts and Science (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920) embarked on a captivating Shenzhen field trip. Students revisited many of the artworks they learn in class in "Topologies of the Real," a prominent international media art history exhibition organised by CAFA and ZKM Germany. They also encountered masterpieces by iconic artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and Henri Matisse at the Sky Museum. The journey continued with an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour at the Team Lab Future Park and an enriching exclusive visit to artist studios and workshops at the New-Who Art Village, providing an up-close encounter with the diversity of cultural offerings from the neighouring city.

“En Voyage with Claude Monet” is the first immersive Claude Monet experience in Hong Kong. ARTT|East Kowloon Cultural Centre Arts and Technology Workshop at Sha Tin Town Hall
Students of Bachelor of ASc (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920) participated in the East Kowloon Cultural Centre Arts and Technology Workshop at Sha Tin Town Hall. The audience enjoyed the collaborative performance by Music Artist Olivier Cong, Visual Artist Kachi Chan and Percussionist Karen Yu. The students engaged in an interactive discussion with the artists, gaining valuable information and inspiration from the experience.

ARTT|“The Road to the Baroque – Masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum” at Hong Kong Museum of Art (HKMoA)
Students of BASc (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920) visited the exhibition, “The Road to the Baroque – Masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum”, featuring around 40 Neapolitan paintings from the Capodimonte Museum. To complement the exhibition with multimedia elements and Hong Kong perspectives, HKMoA invited local artists from various disciplines to present their artworks alongside, including a visual installation by Mr Kingsley NG, Visual Artist and Programme Director of BASc (Hons) in Arts and Technology (JS2920).
